La Historia de Roions
Roions started in the early seventies.
During summer Jac and Maite had a holiday love affair, at the camping Quo Vadis in Castelldefels. Back home, they kept the fire burning by mail (in those days
you could write a letter with a pen, put a stamp on it and put it in a red box, a mail box. Some obscure organisation would take
deliver this letter to the addressed person). In the next summer, Jac had but one purpose: to visit Maite and her family. However, they did not go to Castelldefels.
They went to Camping La Llosa in Cambrils.

The history
One of the first pictures of this special family relationship shows the initiators: Carlos, Jacques, Mayte and Montse.
This picture (below) is taken during the holidays in 1970 in Castelldelfels, on camping Quo Vadis. |
After the two families met in 1971, when Jac went to see Maite in Cambrils, we planned to meet again in
1972. The familia Roig invited the familia Noyons to join them in camping La Llosa. To be sure that we would
meet, Noyons sent a telegram to Cambrils to notify Roig we would arrive on Julio 18. |

Very typical Roions meeting |
During the holidays, eating was one of the most important activities. Especially, when Manel & Dolors prepared their
famous Paella. A nice aspect about this dish is that has to remain on a fire for quite some time: so enough time for
Dolors & Mama Betty to 'bla, bla, bla'.
On other occasions we had even fondue for dinner. On the picture above we see a fondue table with Manel Capone at the head of
the table.
Besides eating, drinking was one of the main activities. At a very young age, the children were introduced to
the small pleasures in life, like drinking champagne. |
And in the evening the festivities would start with coffee, made in the famous special Aluminium can. |
But it was not always drinking and eating and singing... Sometimes we would play tennis too. In Playa Bara
we held a tournament for Roig, Noyons and the family Theis (a German couple, Ludwig and Renate) in 1973.
Josep was the artist who designed the bulletin board for this major event. |
For some of us this tournament meant hard work (mucho trabajar), but for other it meant another opportunity
to talk and talk and talk and to watch the most exiting matches you have ever seen.
Like father, like son, like mother, like daughter |
As the familia Roig had to go back earlier than the Noyons family every year, they invited one of the Noyons family members
to spend his last week in Terrassa. |
At the end of te Noyons family,we would gather in Terrassa and visit the local cultural sites, like churches (if not closed) and the Castle Vallparadis |
In the late seventies, Manel and Dolors decided to buy a piece of land in the mountains. During summer we would gather there with two families for
at least one week. We called it Camping Roig, a beautiful but quiet place. The communication was a bit more difficult, so sometimes we had to keep
in touch via telegrams at posterestante. |
Again in Camping Roig, a lot of eating, drinking and music was going on. Josep and Jac even composed
and performed their own pieces here. It was the beginning of a more professional collaboration in music.
